Wilson's fame travelled to the United States in 2014, when she appeared as a character on Showtimes The Affair. She played Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her relationship with her past, and is drawn to Noah Solloway. Wilson, along with Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson won a Golden Globe as Best Actress for a Television series-drama in 2015. Wilson told British Vogue, "I loved playing an actor who could be two sides to this story." Noah considers Alison as a confident, sexually sexy and reckless manner. Yet, Alison perceives herself in a completely distinct way. On the inside she feels dowdy. Wilson also stated that she does not believe America to be so moralistic. Wilson was a part of the show until 2018, to the dismay of many viewers. dismay, though she was vague about the details. The Little Stranger More recently Wilson is now focusing on film roles. In 2016, she starred in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing which is a house, and also played the mysterious PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi rom com How to Talk to Girls in Parties. In addition to her horror credits Wilson is also set to appear in the British movie version of The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller is based on the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson is the executive producer of the movie.
